Family. Friends. Hometown Feel.

A family’s journey toward revitalization of their hometown.

Our Story

The idea behind Village Point Market was simple: bring a cool, trendy farmer’s-style market with big city appeal to our small hometown. Starting out, Village Point owners Ben and Kim Ferguson didn’t have the intention of starting a business. Instead, their primary focus was to find ways to help revitalize Hayesville. Ben grew up just a few properties away from Village Point’s current location. When the opportunity arose to begin building something that would benefit the area and give back to the people in the community, Village Point was born.

The market building is over 100 years old. During its life it was formerly a dance hall, burning stove manufacturer, a car garage, and then sat vacant for 12 years until rebuilding and remodeling began, turning the exterior and interior into the beautiful structure it is now.

Revitalization has all been the goal. Village Point Market and Village Point Parlor currently employ over 30 people and the process itself has been a full-family endeavor. It’s one thing to teach your children how to show pride in your hometown, but it’s something entirely different—and uniquely special—to walk through the whole process with them. This journey together has been, by far, the most rewarding part.

Three Loves

Ben talks about three loves when he talks about Hayesville and Village Point Market’s place within it. First, the community showed Ben love as he grew up, providing him with opportunities to learn, grow, and succeed. Second, he has always wanted to find a way to return that love to the community in turn. Village Point Market, along with Village Point Parlor and Home Turf Training Facility, is that love manifested and able to be experienced by those in the community and beyond. Third, the goal is to have the community love these businesses, find value in experiencing them together, side by side, now and into the future.

They wanted to create something the community could be proud of. Something they could experience together. And Village Point Market is the end result, drawing on the history of the area and all the people who worked through the years to create what the community is today, and establishing its place, right at the point, as we move forward together in this community.
